This is a great little Belt Ax to carry with you on your next trip to the woods. Many people call this a Fort Meigs Ax, because one was found like this one near Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio many years ago. However we have seen other belt ax's like this one in private collections that have been found in other parts of the country. So we refer this as a belt ax.

This ax is cast of steel (4140) and then put in our forge to open up the eye, which allows us to install a larger handle into the ax head. The ax works well for light camp chores or splitting the breast bone of a deer. The overall length is 14", the head measures 4 1/4" in length and 1 7/8" on the cutting edge and weights just under one pound. The cutting edge needs to be sharpened, it is safer to ship with a slightly duller blade. The handle comes stained and will vary in color somewhat.

I have carried one of these ax's for many years with my shooting bag and has come in handy many times.
