These were reproduced from an original pair of buckles. The buckles date mid 18th century. The sample was taken from one found in a well at Williamsburg. The buckle measures 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" and will accept a shoe strap of 1 1/4".
These are a new pair of brass shoe buckles. These were reproduced from an original pair of buckles. The buckles date mid 18th century. The sample was taken from one found in a well at Williamsburg. The buckle measures 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" and will accept a shoe strap of 1 1/4". This buckle would have been worn for court, church, or for any dress up occasion. Shoe buckles were a part of dress in the 18th century for men and women and would indicate if they had some wealth. These buckles are suitable for either gender. Circa 1745, Copied from an original found in a well at Colonial Williamsburg.
