The buckles date during the last quarter of the 18th century and has some nice design to them. The buckle measures 2 1/2" x 2" and will accept a shoe strap of 1 3/16". This buckle would have been worn for court, church, or for any dress up occasion. Shoe buckles were a part of dress in the 18th century for men and women and would indicate if they had some wealth.
