This button is made of lead free pewter and measures 5/8" in diameter. The button is copied from one that we have in our collection found on the banks of the Sandusky River near Fremont ,Ohio. Buttons were made in many different sizes and materials, from plain to very ornate. This plain button was a common button found on working breeches, waistcoats and justacorps of the 18th century. I carry a couple of extra buttons in my sewing kit just in case I lose one out on the trail. Our buttons are light weight, not heavy like many other buttons offered for sale. The original button is light weight as well. If your making a pair of breeches (front closure or drop front) you will need 15 to 18 depending on how many buttons you put on the leg and if you have pockets. These are nice buttons and will stay bright color.
