This Chatelaine is made of pewter with a dove design. The chatelaine measures 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" and comes with four 6" chains with a hook at the bottom of the chain to hang your favorite sewing accessories. The chatelaine was used by women of the 18th century to attach items they used daily, not only their sewing items,but could also include a small watch, keys, letter seal,perfume bottles or note pads as examples. The chatelaine was also worn for fashion and many were very ornate which were made in silver or gold with many different designs. This chatelaine has a waist hook on the back side to slip over your petticoat or your belt just like the originals.
